Passenger/Visitor Assistance![]() Travelers Aid's programs have traditionally been located at transportation centers and have often expanded their services beyond stranded travelers to include information and advice to the traveling public. This public service is usually welcomed by the general traveler and also serves to inform the public about Travelers Aid's social service programs. Travelers Aid Society of Philadelphia maintained offices in the Reading Railroad Terminal, the Broad Street Railroad Terminal, and the 30th Street Station Railroad Terminal throughout the 20th Century, and provided travel information and advice to the traveling public there. The last railroad terminal location was at 30th Street Station, from 1932 to 1992, when it was closed during the Station renovations. In December 2007, Travelers Aid re-opened at Passenger Assistance Booth in the Central Concourse of the Station. The Booth is operated by agency staff and volunteers, who provide the following services: greeting and welcoming, directions and travel guidance, assistance in securing accommodations, identification and directions for local sites of interest, information on current events, identification of business services, and crisis intervention. The Passenger Assistance Booth is open 8 hours a day, 7 days a week. It currently provides information and advice to approximately 1800 passengers a week. |
