PURCHASING AMTRAK TICKETS Amtrak tickets may be purchased at either the sale counter or the sales kiosk. The Amtrak Sales counter is located near the 29th Street Side of the train station (to the left of the booth if you are facing Market Street). From the Booth direct passengers to walk to column 5 make a left and a "quick" right and the passenger will see an embankment of sales counters. Tickets may be purchased at the main sales counter from 5 am to 9:30 pm. Additionally, tickets purchased online or on the phone may be "picked-up" at the Amtrak main Sales counter. Passengers will need to provide the ticket confirmation number and valid identification.
PURCHASING/RETRIEVING AMTRAK TICKETS FROM AMTRACK KIOSK Amtrak train tickets may be purchased from Amtrak Kiosk 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The kiosk are located at columns 7 (which are often broken), 5, and 3. If a passenger has purchased a ticket online and has the credit/debit that was used to purchase the ticket, then the ticket can be retrieved from the kiosk. If the passenger does not have the credit/debit card that was used to purchase the ticket, the passenger must retrieve the ticket from the Amtrak Sales Counter.
To purchase a ticket from the Amtrak Kiosk, the passenger must use a debit or major credit card. The credit card is inserted into the kiosk and the passenger is asked to follow the prompts.
TICKETS: PURCHASING, CHANGES, EXCHANGES, PROBLEMS, ETC. If passengers need to make any changes or is having problems with tickets or seating, they must go to the sales counter.
AMTRAK TRAIN INFORMATION DESK The Amtrak Train Information Desk provides information about Amtrak Trains only. The Information board indicates the time, track, and, train name. Amtrak Train Information Desk Staff can answer questions pertaining to train schedules, track number, etc. The desk staff are not able make any changes to or exchange tickets. Any ticket changes/exchanges need to be done at the Amtrak Sales counter.
RESTROOMS Restrooms are located in the back of the station. Instruct passengers to walk past the column with the Customer Service Signage (located to the left of the booth if you are facing Market Street). Once the passenger passes the column, they are to make a left and walk all the way to the end of the concourse. Women's restrooms are on to right and men's restrooms are on the left.
UNATTENDED LUGGAGE OR PERSONAL ITEMS AT 30TH STREET STATION 30th Street Amtrak Train Station policy strictly prohibits passengers from leaving luggage and personal items from being left unattended. Any luggage and/or personal items left unattended will be immediately confiscated. As a result of this general policy, Travelers Aid Family Services of Philadelphia 30th Street Booth Staff are prohibited from accepting luggage or personal times from travelers to temporarily hold or monitor for any reason or period of time. 30th Street Amtrak Train Station Booth Staff are required to report any unattended luggage or personal items that they observe to the Amtrak Police immediately.
AMTRAK BAGGAGE STORAGE The 30th Street Amtrak Train Station provides temporary storage of luggage and properly stored personal items. The Amtrak Baggage Storage is located on the 29th Street (West) side of the station, just beyond the Amtrak Sales/Ticketing Windows. Baggage storage fees are as follows: $3.00 per bag for a 24 hour period. All baggage and /or personal items must be clearly marked with traveler's name.
CAR RENTAL Car rental companies located inside the 30th Street Amtrak Station: Budget, Avis, National, and, Alamo are located next to the Customer Services office, directly behind the column with Stairway 9 signage. Rental cars are "picked-up" in the lower level car garage. The rental car garage is located directly to right of the booth (if you are facing Market Street). When the escalator is not working, passengers may take an elevator or stairs. Rental Car hours are Monday thru Friday 7 am and Saturdays 9 am to 12 pm. Closed on Sundays and Holidays.
Car rental companies located near the 30th Street Amtrak Station: Enterprise Car Rental is located at the Sheraton Hotel (location- 15 South 36th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104). The telephone number is 215-387-3283 and the hours of operation are Mondays thru Fridays 8am-6pm; Saturday 9am-2pm, and the location is closed on Sundays.
POSTAL SERVICES There is a Full-Service United States Post Office located in the 30th Street Amtrak Station. The Post office is located at toward the 29th Street/Market Street quadrant of the Station (location: 2955 Market Street, Lobby A, Philadelphia, PA. The hours of operation are Monday–Friday 7am–5:45pm. The office is closed Saturdays and Sundays.
A major Post Office of Philadelphia is located one long block from 30th Street Amtrak Station at 30th and Chestnut Streets. The office is open Monday-Sunday.
ATM There are only Wachovia Bank ATM machines located in the Train Station. There is a $2.50 fee for non Wachovia customers. The ATMs are located on the Market Street "wall" of the station and at the SEPTA Station. There is a Citizen's bank ATM in the Cira Center Building, Mezzanine level (see just below). There is a Sovereign Bank at 32nd and Market Street.
FULL SERVICE BANK Citizens Bank is the only full-service bank located within the Train Station. The bank is located in the Cira Building. The Cira Building is located directly behind the Station (going North). Instruct passengers to walk north as though walking to the Regional Rails lines. Passengers will encounter an escalator at the end of the walk way. They are to take the escalator to the Sky Bridge. They are to cross the Sky Bridge and enter the Cira Center. The bank is located on the lobby floor of the building. The Bank hours are as follows: 8-6 Weekdays, 9-1 Saturdays, Closed Sundays and Holidays. The ATM fee is $2.50.
WESTERN UNION There is no Western Union Money Transfer Center in the 30th Street Amtrak Train Station. The nearest Western Union is located within the Fresh Grocer Store at 4001 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130 (telephone number 215-222-9200). The Western Union Customer Service number is 1-800-325-6000.
MONEY ORDERS Money Orders may be purchased from the either United States Post Office. Individuals/passengers seeking to purchase money orders from the United States Post Office must present photo identification when purchasing the money orders. Additionally, current "government-issued" or "state-issued" picture identification is required for money order purchases of $3,000 or more in a single day. Other features include: Frees for money order purchases are as follows: For amounts up to $500.00, the fee is 1.05. For money order purchased in the amounts of $500.01 to $1,000, the fee is $1.50. International money orders, up to $700 can be purchased for $3.85.
Cashing United States Postal Service Money Orders: All U.S. money orders, including military money orders, may be cashed at both Post Offices and any Bank (including Citizens Bank). When seeking to cash money orders, individuals must present government or stated issued photo identification.
TAXICABS
Taxicabs may be secured on the 30th Street Side of the train Station (located to the left of the Booth if you are facing Market Street). The cost of taking a Taxi Cab to the Philadelphia International Airport is $28.50, the airport is 10 miles from the train station, and is a 20 minute drive in good traffic. Taxi Cabs accept cash, debit cards, and, all major credit cards. Tips may be indicated on issued receipts and/or paid in cash.
REGIONAL RAIL TRAIN TO PHILADELPHIA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Regional Rail line R1 will transport passengers to the Philadelphia International Airport. Tickets may be purchased at the SEPTA Regional Rail at the purchasing booth located at the rear (north side) of the Train Station. Direct passengers to the Regional Rail Concourse located just to the right of the Booth (if facing Market Street). The concourse signage states: Regional Rail. Passengers will walk up the incline to the back of the train station. R1 tickets are approximately $6.00 and the train ride will take approximately 25 minutes to all PHL gates..
REGIONAL RAIL TRAIN — FREE TRANSPORT TO SUBURBAN STATION AND MARKET EAST STATION FOR AMTRAK PASSENGERS The SEPTA Regional Rail Trains offers Amtrak passengers free transportation from 30th Street Station to the following Regional Rail Train Stations: Suburban Station (located: 30th and Market Street) and Market East (located: 11th and Market Street). To access the free transportation to either Station follow the Regional Rail Concourse to track 1, 7, or 5 going East. After leaving 30th Street Station, the first stop will be Suburban Station and the second stop will be Market East Station.
THE LUCY (Loop Thru University City) The LUCY provides transportation from the 30th Street Amtrak Train Station throughout the University City District, including Drexel University, University of Pennsylvania, Children's Hospital, and, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. There are two LUCY LINES: GREEN LINE and GOLD LINE. The LUCY STOP is located at 30th and JFK Blvd. Travelers with valid identifications associated with the following: University of Pennsylvania, University of Pennsylvania Health Systems, Veterans Administration and Hospital, University City District, The University of the Sciences may ride free. General Fares are as follows: Base Fare: $2.00, Senior Citizens: Free (with valid identification), Disability Discount: $0.75 during non-peak hours or holidays. The LUCY LINES does not operate on weekends or holidays.
APEX BUS SERVICE Apex Bus is a low-cost transportation service that departs from Philadelphia Chinatown to New York Chinatown, or from Philadelphia Chinatown to Washington DC Chinatown and goes on to Richmond and Atlanta. The bus service is not associated with Amtrak, SEPTA, or Greyhound. The customer service number is 1-888-988-2739 or 917-217-8485. Departure and fee information (subject to change):
- Leaving 121 North 11th Street (Philadelphia's Chinatown) and Arriving at 88 East Broadway (New York's Chinatown) cost $12.00 one way or $25 roundtrip; departures are frequent, up to 9 times day;
- Leaving 121 North 11th Street (Philadelphia Chinatown) and Arriving 610 I Street NW (Washington, D.C.); 3 times daily.
MEGABUS The MEGABUS is a low-cost bus service to New York City (Penn Station) that departs 6-8 times daily from 30th and JFK Boulevard. The cost varies and tickets may be purchased only online (www.megabus.com) or by calling 1-800-GO2-MEGA). The schedule is available online or by telephone.
BOLTBUS BUS SERVICE The BOLTBUS is a low-cost bus service serving Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. The Philadelphia route is owned by Greyhound/Peter Pan. It started in April 2008. It stops at 3000 Market Street (on 30th Street between Market Street and Chestnut Street, near Slainte Restaurant and Bar). Schedule and tickets are available on line at Boltbus.com. Tickets can be purchased online (www.boltbus.com) or on the bus.
PHILADELPHIA ART MUSEUM The Philadelphia Art Museum is located at 2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, PA and the telephone number is (215) 763-8101. The distance from the 30th Street Amtrak Station to the Philadelphia Art Museum is approximately 1.25 miles and is a 25 minute walk (walking at a steady pace).
Walking Directions to The Philadelphia Art Museum: Exit the 30th Street Amtrak Station at 29th and Market Streets. Going east on Market Street, walk over the Skulkyll River Bridge and continue on Market Street until 22nd Street (or take the River walk path at the end of the Bridge). Make a left onto 22nd Street walking north (to the left). Walk on 22nd Street, past Arch, Cherry, Race, and, Winter Streets until the Benjamin Franklin Parkway is reached. At the 22nd Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway, make a left onto the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Continue to walk west on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The Philadelphia Art Museum will be in sight located behind the Eakins Oval.
Public Transportation (SEPTA) Directions to The Philadelphia Art Museum: The 38 Bus will transport directly to the Philadelphia Art Museum (arriving at rear Museum entrance). Travelers are to access the Market Street Subway (East). Travelers will exit the subway at 15th and Market Street (Market Street Line Free Exchange). At the street level, catch the 38 Bus that will arrive at the Philadelphia Art Museum. Alternatively, walk to 20th and JFK and pick up the 38 bus there.
